Russian drivers have started using the panic button more often

The ERA-GLONASS state information system has transmitted 11.2 thousand SOS signals to rescuers in manual mode since the beginning of 2025. According to Alexey Raikevich, CEO of GLONASS JSC, Russian motorists have become more likely to press the alarm button on their own and report incidents. The operator's press service announced this on October 14.

Emergency services are called in this way in case of accidents, poor health, to help victims in passing cars and in situations where drivers have witnessed various accidents. In case of severe accidents, ERA-GLONASS is activated automatically, transmitting the coordinates and general characteristics of the vehicles to the regional "Systems-112".

The company stressed that by now the Russian car market is fully equipped with emergency call devices: over the past three years, the number of domestic manufacturers has increased from four to 12. The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with GLONASS JSC and microelectronics manufacturers, transferred the equipment to a sanctions-resistant domestic component base.

On September 26, AvtoVAZ announced the launch of a program to retrofit Lada Vesta vehicles with the ERA-GLONASS emergency call system. It involves 22 thousand cars that were produced from October 2021 to April 2022.
