A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Center group of troops liberated the Balagan settlement in the DPR and continued its advance in the eastern quarters of Dimitrov. As a result of the actions of the Russian military, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 550 militants, two armored combat vehicles, six pickup trucks and a field artillery piece.

In addition, the North group of troops improved the tactical situation, defeated Ukrainian armed formations in the areas of the settlements of Andreevka, Alekseevka, Varachino and Novaya Sich in the Sumy region, as well as units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Volchansk, Grafskoye and Kolodeznoye in the Kharkiv region.

"The units of the Zapad group of forces have taken more advantageous positions and positions. The manpower and equipment of two mechanized assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard brigade were defeated in the areas of settlements <...> of the Donetsk People's Republic. The enemy's losses amounted to more than 230 military personnel, four armored combat vehicles, 26 vehicles, a self-propelled artillery installation, a US—made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar station, nine electronic warfare stations and five ammunition depots," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated transport and fuel and energy infrastructure facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fuel and lubricants depots, rocket and artillery weapons, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 138 districts.

In turn, air defense systems shot down 10 guided aerial bombs, six HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and 195 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 90,139 UAVs, 631 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,498 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,600 multiple rocket launchers, 30,446 field artillery and mortars, 43,922 pieces of special vehicles.
