Ex-Minister of Economic Development of Altai sentenced to four years in a penal colony

The former Minister of Economic Development of the Altai Republic was sentenced to four years in a general regime penal colony in a case of abuse of authority. This was announced on October 14 by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to the investigation, in 2022, the accused, knowing that the residential premises on Pionerskaya Street in the Ulagan district center did not meet the requirements and were unsuitable for habitation, instructed to conclude a state contract, purchase and accept them on the balance sheet. Subsequently, the premises were assigned to the specialized housing fund of the republic and transferred to 16 citizens from among orphans.

"As a result of the criminal actions of the accused, moral harm was inflicted on the victims, their constitutional rights were significantly violated, and grave consequences ensued in the form of large material damage in excess of 38 million rubles to the republican budget," the department said.

On July 22, a criminal case was opened in Vladivostok on abuse of office against the vice-rector of a university. It was noted that the educational institution suffered material damage of more than 3.3 million rubles.
