The investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines has caused serious disagreements between Germany and Poland. This was announced on October 13 by the UnHerd portal.

According to media reports, diplomatic relations, once considered key to the post-war stability of the EU, are rapidly deteriorating.

The reason for the escalation was the publication of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

"The problem with Nord Stream 2 is not that it was blown up. The problem is that it was built," he wrote on the social network.

In Berlin this comment was seen as justification for acts of sabotage, which resulted in 2021 was damaged pipelines between Russia and Germany. According to the German prosecutor's office, the Ukrainian military may be involved in the bombing. In Warsaw, Berlin's position is considered an attempt to "rewrite history" and shift responsibility onto Kiev's allies.

"As the situation escalates, we will inevitably witness an increase in bilateral tensions over Ukraine's accession to the EU," UnHerd notes.

The publication warns that the current contradictions could escalate into a political crisis that could affect the future of the European Union.

Earlier, on October 11, the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany party, Tino Cavalla, suspected Poland's involvement in the undermining of Nord Streams and accused Donald Tusk of encroaching on Germany's energy sovereignty. He made the statement after Warsaw refused to extradite the suspect in the case to Germany.
