Yulia Pichugina, a psychiatrist at the NIKI of childhood, listed the "red flags" in the child's behavior and told how to distinguish seasonal fatigue from real depression, which requires the help of a specialist.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Monday, October 13, the doctor noted that autumn mood swings in children are associated with a combination of biological and social factors. At this time of year, circadian rhythms and daylight hours change, and the brain adjusts to new conditions. At the same time, the rhythm of life remains the same, and the school year adds to the workload.

She stressed that it is important to distinguish between ordinary fatigue and a clinical condition. The first signals often manifest themselves through sleep and nutrition: if a child cannot fall asleep, wakes up sluggish or loses his appetite, this is a reason to be wary.

Particular attention should be paid to changes in behavior: panic attacks, vomiting, the appearance of fears or the desire to isolate — all these are alarming signs. Children aged 9-10 are considered to be the most vulnerable. Prevention includes following a daily routine, walking, eating a balanced diet, and adequate academic workload.

Earlier on October 13, psychologist Daria Dugentsova, in an interview with RT, told how to spend school holidays productively. According to her, it is worth doing schoolwork at the beginning of the holidays to free up time for rest. Then later it will be possible to safely switch to a full rest. 360.ru .

On the same day, pediatrician-immunologist, MD, Professor Andrey Prodeus told the National Assembly that today children often develop overweight due to excess carbohydrates in the diet and lack of physical activity, which often causes eating disorders. This is influenced by the lack of normal eating habits at home.

On October 9, a Harvard Medical School study showed that parents' mental health forms the basis of the emotional climate in the family and directly affects the child's development. According to the results, children whose parents suffered from anxiety or depressive disorders are more likely to face similar problems during adolescence.

In February Pravda.Ru She wrote that it is often difficult for parents to understand whether the child's problem will go away on its own or whether it is time to consult a specialist. If the behavior becomes unclear, communication becomes more complicated, or there is a crisis situation in the family, it is better not to postpone the visit to a psychologist. The reason for the treatment may be increased anxiety and fears, aggression or auto-aggression, tantrums as a method of manipulation, dependence on gadgets, theft or lying, eating problems, isolation, difficulties in adaptation, as well as psychosomatic symptoms such as tics, enuresis and obsessive movements. The expectation that "it will pass by itself" can only aggravate the situation and complicate its solution.
