Israel called the decision of the Palestinian Hamas movement to hand over the bodies of only four of the 28 hostages a "violation of obligations" and threatened to retaliate. This was announced on September 13 by the head of the Israeli Defense Ministry, Israel Katz.

"Any deliberate delays or evasions will be considered a blatant violation of the agreement and an appropriate response will be given," Katz said on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The head of the Ministry of Defense considers the return of all the dead Israeli hostages to be a priority.

Shortly before that, the Israeli NGO Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons stated that, according to its information, only four of the 28 dead hostages would be returned from the Gaza Strip during the day. It was noted that the forum members consider the incident an offense and expect assistance from the Israeli Government in taking appropriate measures.

On the same day, the first group of seven Israeli hostages released by the Hamas movement was handed over to the IDF in the Gaza Strip. It was noted that upon their return to Israel, all of them will undergo a medical examination. Hamas then released a second group of 13 hostages, who were handed over to the Red Cross.

Later, Izvestia correspondent Nikita Kulyukhin reported that those released had arrived at a hospital in Tel Aviv.
