Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a meeting with UAE Vice President Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan on October 13, stressed the importance of continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and stressed the need for full implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.
"Erdogan said that the ceasefire agreement must be fully implemented, humanitarian aid must be delivered to Gaza without interruptions," Haber 7 channel quoted him as saying.
Erdogan noted that Turkey is working to "end the genocide in Gaza" and sees an opportunity to achieve lasting peace. He also stressed that it is important to begin immediate work on the restoration of the region.
On October 13, US President Donald Trump announced the end of the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages by the Hamas movement.
On the same day, it became known that the first group of seven Israeli hostages released by the Palestinian Hamas movement had been handed over to the IDF in the Gaza Strip. It was noted that upon their return to Israel, all of them will undergo a medical examination. It was later reported that Hamas had released a second group of 13 hostages.
On October 9, Israel and Hamas signed an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages after indirect talks in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. According to the agreement, the fighting will cease, Israel will partially withdraw from Gaza, and Hamas will release all remaining hostages in exchange for prisoners held in Israel. The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10 at 12:00 Moscow time.
