Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Igor Bratchikov will leave his post, thus completing his five-year diplomatic mission in Bratislava. This was announced on October 13 at the Russian Embassy.

"My five—year mission as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Slovakia is coming to an end," the diplomat said in a statement on the embassy's Facebook page (owned by Meta, a recognized extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation).

Bratchikov stressed that despite the pressure from "outside" and the efforts of certain politicians in Russia and Slovakia, they managed to prevent the destruction of the traditions of the spiritual and cultural community.

In 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Bratchikov as the Russian ambassador to Slovakia. It was noted that Bratchikov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1979. From 1998 to 2000, he was an adviser-envoy of the Russian Embassy in Germany. Then he headed the Fourth and Third European Departments of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Later, the diplomat became the Russian ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Prior to his new appointment, he was the Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large.
