Leaders of the countries participating in the summit dedicated to resolving the conflict in the Gaza Strip have begun arriving in Sharm el-Sheikh. This was announced on October 13 by journalist Khalil Mohamed Khalil Ahmed.

"Leaders and monarchs participating in the historic summit have begun arriving in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. An official statement from the Egyptian President's press service confirmed the participation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It is expected that the leaders of more than twenty states will join the meeting," he said.

According to the journalist, this event is intended to mark the signing of the peace agreement in Gaza. He added that the summit is being held with the participation of US President Donald Trump amid "unprecedented security measures."

It is noted that the main purpose of the event is the need to realize the American leader's vision of the future of the region and put an end to the protracted conflict.

Trump is expected to arrive at the summit in the coming hours. His program includes a joint meeting with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Khalil al-Sisi, where he plans to discuss the latest security developments and further steps to strengthen stability in the region.

Earlier in the day, it became known that the first group of seven Israeli hostages released by the Palestinian Hamas movement had been handed over to the IDF in the Gaza Strip. It was noted that upon their return to Israel, all of them will undergo a medical examination. It was later reported that Hamas had released a second group of 13 hostages, who had been handed over to the Red Cross. In addition, buses carrying released prisoners arrived in the Palestinian city of Ramallah.

Trump called October 13 a great day in connection with the end of the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages by the Hamas movement. He stressed that the war between Israel and Hamas is over. According to him, representatives of the Palestinian movement will implement the disarmament plan.

On October 9, Israel and Hamas signed an agreement on a cease-fire and the release of hostages after indirect talks in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. According to the agreement, the fighting will cease, Israel will partially withdraw from Gaza, and Hamas will release all remaining hostages in exchange for prisoners held in Israel. The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10 at 12:00 Moscow time.
