There were 607 road accidents in Russia over the weekend.

Over the past weekend, 607 road accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 81 people were killed and 744 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on October 13 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. 24 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which 29 road users, including four children, required medical assistance. The reason for 10 bus accidents was traffic violations by their drivers.

As a result of 165 accidents involving pedestrians, 20 people were killed, 151 more were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 38 children among the injured, 10 of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings, 28 outside the pedestrian crossing. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 68 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 97 outside their area of operation. In addition, 98 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which eight children were killed and 104 young road users were injured, including 55 passengers, one cyclist and 10 motor transport drivers.

So, in the Vladimir region, on 316 km of the federal highway M-7 Volga, a driver of a foreign car crashed into a truck traveling in the same direction, after which the truck drove into oncoming traffic and collided with a crossover. The driver of the crossover and his 13-year-old passenger, who was in the back seat and wearing a seat belt, were killed in the accident. Two more passengers of the crossover, including a nine-year-old girl who was also in the back seat and wearing a seat belt, and the truck driver were hospitalized with injuries.

In the Republic of Tatarstan, on a field road in the daytime, a nine-year-old driver, not having the right to drive and being without a motorcycle helmet, tipped over while riding an ATV. His seven-year-old passenger, who was also without a motorcycle helmet, died in the accident. In the Chelyabinsk region, on a regional highway, a passenger car driver left the road and crashed into a power line pole, overturning the car. The driver and his 14-year-old passenger, who was in the back seat in the center and not wearing a seat belt, were killed in the accident.

In the Republic of Tatarstan, on a regional highway, a 47-year-old driver of a foreign car drove into oncoming traffic in an authorized place and collided with a truck. The driver of a foreign car and his two passengers, including a 12-year-old child, were killed in the accident. In the Orenburg region, on 70 km of the federal highway A-305, a passenger car driver entered the oncoming traffic lane in an authorized place and collided with a truck moving in the opposite direction. The driver of a passenger car and his 12-year-old passenger were killed in the accident. Another 12-year-old passenger of the same car was injured and was hospitalized.

In the Ryazan region, on 68 km of the Ryazhsk—Nizhny Novgorod highway, a passenger car driver drove into oncoming traffic, where it is prohibited, and collided with a foreign car. The accident killed the driver and passenger of a passenger car, as well as a four-year-old passenger of a foreign car, who was in the back seat in a child restraint device. The driver and another passenger of the foreign car were hospitalized with injuries.

In the Donetsk People's Republic, in Makeyevka, at night, a 34-year-old disenfranchised driver, riding an unregistered motorcycle, left the road and crashed into a tree. The driver and his 12-year-old passenger, who was without a motorcycle helmet, were killed in the accident. In the Republic of Tyva, on a regional highway, a driver of a foreign car collided with an SUV moving ahead in the same direction. An 11-year-old passenger of an SUV was killed in an accident. The driver of the foreign car, the driver of the SUV and six of his passengers, including four minors, were injured and were hospitalized.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, ATVs and motorcycles.

"Remember that the lack of control over the behavior and leisure of children often leads to injury or death of young road users. In addition, we draw parents' attention to the administrative responsibility for allowing children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category to drive motor vehicles," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, on October 7, it was reported that from January to September 2025, 7.9 thousand people were registered in Russia. Accidents involving drivers who are intoxicated, which is 12.3% less than in the same period last year. 2.1 thousand people died in such accidents, and more than 10 thousand people were injured (a decrease of 23.5% and 10.6%, respectively).
