Blinovskaya's lawyer claimed the blogger's right to request parole

Blogger Elena Blinovskaya is now eligible for parole. This was announced on October 13 by her lawyer Natalia Salnikova.

It is specified that this decision was made in the morning. It is related to a change in the court's punishment.

"It is connected with the serving of a specific term. In her case, the specific term has been served. She has the right to parole," the lawyer said.

Blinovskaya was convicted in a case of tax evasion and money laundering. Her punishment included a fine of 1 million rubles, a ban on certain activities for a period of four years, as well as the recovery of 587 million rubles at the request of the prosecutor's office.

Meanwhile, the lawyer clarified that the decision on parole has not yet been made, but it is Blinovskaya's legitimate right based on the terms served.

Earlier in the day, a correspondent for Izvestia reported a change in Blinovskaya's sentence. The blogger's defense asked the court to reverse the decision on the confiscation of property and release her from custody. Blinovskaya herself asked the court to postpone serving her sentence until her child reaches the age of 14, but the court found no grounds to grant this request.

Prior to that, on March 3, the court found Blinovskaya guilty of tax evasion on an especially large scale, money laundering, and illegal circulation of funds. He sentenced the blogger to five years in a penal colony. It is specified that Blinovskaya was released from criminal prosecution under the article related to non-payment of taxes due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Blinovskaya was detained in April 2023 on suspicion of fraud for the purpose of non-payment of taxes. For about a year, the blogger was under house arrest. The Investigative Committee of Russia completed its investigation into the blogger on July 25, 2024. On August 30, she partially pleaded guilty to tax evasion. In November, she was declared bankrupt, after which the court began selling her property.
