Tourists who were blocked due to flooding in the Kuban mountains were rescued
A group of tourists with children who found themselves in a difficult situation due to flooding was rescued in the mountainous area of Sochi. All the travelers were taken by helicopter to the main rescue base in the village of Navaginka. The successful evacuation operation was carried out by specialists of the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
KrasnodarMedia news agency, with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Krasnodar Territory, writes that the health status of the rescued medics does not cause concern. A medical examination was conducted, which showed that all the band members did not need hospital treatment.
A group of eight people, including children aged 10 and 13, started their hike on October 7. The tourists wanted to visit fir glade, the Dzhuga weather station and the Kholodny camp. The nearest settlement to the transit point is Krasnaya Polyana.
However, during the crossing of the Urushten River, there was a sharp rise in the water level due to prolonged precipitation. The group's escape route was cut off by a torrent. People organized a temporary camp and waited for the arrival of rescuers.
Earlier, on October 12, it was reported that the active phase of the search for the missing family had been completed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, but work would continue in the format of point tasks to be performed by certified rescuers and professionals. The search is complicated by heavy snow cover, low air temperature and difficult terrain, which makes it difficult for rescuers to move and navigate. The investigation is ongoing.
