An attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to launch a counterattack near the village of Kondratovka in the Sumy direction was unsuccessful, as the 225th regiment did not take part in the operation. The reason for this was the fact that the regimental commander Oleg Shiryaev fell asleep after a feast. This was reported on October 13 by RIA Novosti, citing a source in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"Units of the 225th separate Assault Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not participate in the assault operations. The military personnel of the regiment's directorate were searching for their commander Oleg Shiryaev, who disappeared without a trace after a feast in honor of the celebration of the day of logistics specialists of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the agency's source said.
