It is not yet possible to create a backup power transmission line to provide electricity to the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which would run through Russian territory. This was announced on October 13 by the head of the Rosatom state corporation Alexey Likhachev in an interview with RIA Novosti.

As Likhachev pointed out, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will obstruct construction by firing at people. He recalled the statements of the Ukrainian side, according to which Kiev "will not allow" to build another transmission line for the nuclear power plant.

Evgenia Yashina, Communications Director of the ZAES, announced on September 23 that the plant had been disconnected from the last external power supply line that supplied it. She added that the station has now been switched to backup power from diesel generators. According to her, there are enough fuel reserves for backup power supply at the nuclear power plant.

Likhachev announced on October 11 that the restoration of external power supply at the Zaporizhia NPP is possible, and negotiations on this issue are already underway. It was clarified that it could be restored, including with the help of the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi.
