After a fire in an apartment building in Alchevsk, Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), the city authorities promptly responded by introducing an emergency mode. This was announced on October 13 by the head of the city district Svetlana Grebenkova.
"We held a meeting of the commission for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations and fire safety. We have decided to introduce an emergency regime in the city," she said in a message on her Telegram channel.
It is specified that in this regard, all city services switched to round-the-clock operation. Special equipment was used to clear the rubble in the house. It was also decided to allocate the necessary materials for the restoration of the thermal circuit of the damaged housing and neighboring buildings.
Grebenkova added that the commission will meet at least twice a day until the consequences of the explosion are completely eliminated.
Earlier that day, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the LPR reported that two people died as a result of a fire in a nine-story building in Alchevsk. It was reported that the causes of the incident are being clarified. Grebenkova later said that the fire started as a result of an explosion.
