- Trump suggested that US universities conclude an agreement on compliance with the laws
On October 12, American leader Donald Trump proposed to US universities to conclude an agreement on compliance with the law with the federal government.
"Those institutions that want to quickly return to the pursuit of truth and achievement are invited to enter into a far—sighted agreement with the federal government," the Truth Social said in a statement.
According to him, this is necessary in order to bring back the "golden age of academic excellence in higher education." Trump noted that by signing the document, universities will agree to comply with federal law and protect the rights of all their students, as well as teachers and staff.
He also added that higher education institutions will be required to end the "racist admission policy" of students and discrimination in hiring teachers. In addition, they commit to adhere to high standards of learning quality.
"We will have universities again that will develop the talents of our wonderful young people so that they can live a successful and fulfilling life," Trump said.
Earlier, on April 29, it was reported that the US presidential administration launched an investigation into Harvard University and the Harvard Law Review scientific journal in connection with allegations of racism. In this regard, an audit will be conducted with respect to the educational institution, which will affect internal documents, as well as the policy of selecting staff and authors of articles.
On April 24, Trump called Harvard University a "threat to democracy" and accused its leadership of "liberal disorder." The president's comment came after the Harvard leadership once again ignored the Trump administration's demands on the educational institution.
