The decision of the Lithuanian government to revoke the citizenship of figure skaters Margarita Drobiazko and her partner Povilas Vanagas due to participation in the Tatiana Navka ice show in Russia is absurd and lawless. This was announced on October 12 by two-time Olympic biathlon champion Dmitry Vasiliev.

"They stripped the citizenship of the country of an innocent athlete. What does she have to do with it? After all, Drobiazko is engaged in figure skating and tries to earn money by doing what she knows how to do well. And Tatiana Navka is not a politician, she organizes sports shows. And on what basis was all this done?" the athlete told RIA Novosti.

He noted that Lithuania is dependent on the position of the European Union (EU) and is only capable of such petty nastiness. The athlete also stressed that such decisions show anti-democracy rather than the democracy that the EU calls for.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda signed a decree on the deprivation of Lithuanian citizenship of figure skater Margarita Drobiazko on September 15, 2023, which she was granted as an exception in 1993. Nauseda, announcing his intention to revoke citizenship, noted that people who "want to carry the light of culture and goodness in the aggressor's skin should continue to do so without citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania."

On October 10, Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova sharply condemned the decision of the Lithuanian authorities to revoke the citizenship of figure skater Margarita Drobiazko, calling this decision "idiotic" and "bestial."
