On October 13, military expert and political scientist Alexander Artamonov, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that the attempts on high-ranking employees of the Russian Ministry of Defense have Western overtones.

"All these assassinations have a Western style. It is from the West that explosives are coming to us, which we periodically arrest on the roads. It is from the West that there are constant attempts to increase the terrorist threat. All of this has a common denominator to eliminate the first people of our nation," he said.

Earlier that day, the FSB Public Relations Center reported on the prevention of a sabotage and terrorist act against one of the high-ranking officers of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. On the instructions of the Ukrainian "curators," Gulomov remotely supervised the actions of the performer from the territory of Ukraine and Western European countries. He provided him with the necessary funds, information about the target of the assassination, as well as explosives and other components for the manufacture of IEDs, which were illegally thrown into the territory of Russia by the Ukrainian special services using drones.

In December 2024, the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection forces of the Russian Armed Forces, General Igor Kirillov, and his assistant died as a result of the detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter at the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow. On September 20, 11 people were recognized as victims in the criminal case of the murder of General Kirillov. In total, five defendants in the case were identified, including Akhmadjon Kurbonov, Batukhan Tochiev, Ramazan Padiev and Robert Safaryan. The last person involved, Andriy Gedzik, is a citizen of Ukraine.

On October 8 of this year, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia completed an investigation into the terrorist attack in which Kirillov died. The case was sent to court. According to the investigation, the crime had been preparing for a long time on the territory of Ukraine. In the fall of 2024, the organizers planned to ship components of an improvised explosive device disguised as household items from Poland to Russia.
