Putin joked about the forced "hunger strike" at the CIS summit in Dushanbe

In Tajikistan, during an informal walk before the dinner of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Russian President Vladimir Putin joked that he had been "starved" since the previous evening.

"He is [Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. — Ed.) I've been starving since last night. I say, why are you starving?" said Putin, the footage was published by journalist Pavel Zarubin.

To this, Rahmon, as Putin quoted him, replied: "Tomorrow we'll [have lunch], we'll all get together." After that, the participants of the meeting laughed.

Putin and the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries strolled through the garden of the government residence in Dushanbe before an informal lunch for the heads of delegations on October 9. Installations of vegetables and fruits were prepared for them in the garden. In particular, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov are present at the walk.

On October 8, Putin arrived in Tajikistan on a state visit. Also, during the ceremony of exchanging signed documents on October 9, he called the relations between Moscow and Dushanbe friendly and allied. During the meeting, the parties discussed the bilateral agenda in the fields of economy, security, politics, trade, culture, as well as the international situation.
