It is possible that in order to restore order in the country, US President Donald Trump may apply the law on insurrection, which allows the head of state to use the armed forces without the approval of members of Congress. This was announced on October 12 by Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance.

"The president is considering all options. He hasn't seen fit to do that yet," Vance said on NBC's Meet the Press program.

According to media reports, the White House is discussing this issue "more and more seriously." The last time the riot act was applied was in 1992 during the Los Angeles riots. Vance pointed out that the main problem lies not in the application of the law itself, but in the fact that in the United States there are attacks on law enforcement officers performing their duties.

"The problem here is not whether we actually apply the law on insurrection. The problem is that all the media in the United States, being influenced by several far-left lunatics, have made attacks on American law enforcement agencies permissible. We cannot allow this to happen. [The president] just wants Americans to feel safe," he stressed.

On October 1, the US president announced that he had sent National Guard units to Oregon due to "worsening lawlessness" and attacks against federal employees. After that, on October 4, Trump demanded that the Governor of Illinois, Jay B. Pritzker, introduce the National Guard to combat crime. In response, the head of the region explained that there was no need for such a measure.

On the same day, a US court imposed a temporary ban on sending National Guard soldiers to Portland as part of US President Donald Trump's anti-crime initiative. It is noted that the lawsuit was filed by the leadership of the city and the state of Oregon. The temporary ban will remain in effect until October 18, but may be extended later.
