In the Vatican, a man relieved himself in St. Peter's Basilica by urinating directly on the altar. This was reported on October 11 by the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

"The man managed to climb onto the altar of confession and urinated under the astonished gazes of hundreds of tourists," the article says.

According to the newspaper, the violator passed through checkpoints, ascended to the altar under a bronze canopy made by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and committed an act of vandalism.

The man was immediately detained by plainclothes gendarmerie officers and expelled from the territory. According to media reports, Pope Leo XIV was informed about the incident, who expressed shock at what had happened.

On January 25, it was reported that vandals had damaged two historic statues in Melbourne. As a result, one of the monuments was split in half. The statue of John Batman, one of the founders and pioneers of Melbourne, suffered the most damage. She was literally split into two halves. A monument dedicated to the heroes of the Australian and New Zealand Military Corps was also desecrated. The statue was doused with red paint and covered with the words "return the lands" and "the colony will fall."
