Israel announced the elimination of Hamas tunnels after the return of all hostages
On October 12, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced plans to destroy the remaining underground infrastructures of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip after the completion of the operation to free the hostages being held.
"Israel's main task after the hostages are returned will be to destroy all Hamas terrorist tunnels in the Gaza Strip," Katz wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
He clarified that the operation will be conducted both by the IDF and with the involvement of an international mechanism that will be created under the control of the United States.
Earlier, on October 10, Al Jazeera TV channel reported that the Hamas movement must hand over all living Israeli hostages by the morning of October 13. It was specified that the International Committee of the Red Cross would be present at the transfer of all hostages.
On October 9, it was reported that the head of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Khalil al-Haya, announced the end of the war in the Gaza Strip. It was clarified that the agreement implies a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the region, and the arrival of humanitarian aid.
On the same day, Israeli Government spokesman Shosh Bedrosian announced that a 72-hour period for the release and return of hostages would begin 24 hours after the Israeli Government meeting. She stressed that Israel is preparing to take hostages "in any condition they may find themselves in."
