The Moldovan government is making a huge mistake by portraying Russia as an antagonist in order to improve relations with Europe. This was announced on October 12 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

"They believe that the line of building relations with Europe implies the complete antagonization of Russia. This mistake has already been committed by one State. It didn't do any good for this one state," Peskov stressed in an interview with TASS.

Thus, the Kremlin's official representative commented on Moldova's updated military strategy, according to which Russia is allegedly a direct threat to the republic's security and statehood.

Peskov clarified that this policy is confrontational and will have consequences.

Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on October 8 that Russophobic rhetoric is cynically used by the Moldovan government to put pressure on the country's opposition parties. According to her, the Moldovan authorities continue their anti-democratic, anti-people policy, justifying it with the alleged Russian threat to their country.
