The Interior Ministry warned about the use of Telegram bots by fraudsters for investments

Scammers use Telegram bots to trick Russians into making fake investments, promising growing income and encouraging them to invest large sums. This was announced on Sunday, October 12, by the Russian Interior Ministry.

The press center of the department explained in an interview with TASS that criminals are introducing Telegram bots into deception schemes, simulating transactions with growing income.

So, attackers, using advertising and social engineering methods, convince victims of the availability of automated trading in cryptocurrencies and securities. Victims are sent links to bots that allegedly show growing "income" and encourage them to invest significant personal and credit resources.

Experts told about the new scheme of criminals

Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, said on October 11 that fraudsters in Russia were deceiving pensioners by imposing meter checks at inflated prices. He noted that after such visits, companies issue invoices for 15 thousand rubles, while the actual cost of checking both meters from an accredited company is 1.5 thousand rubles.
