The Supreme Court in Moscow has extended the term of arrest of the former chief personnel officer of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Yuri Kuznetsov, in a criminal case involving a particularly large amount of money. This was announced on October 12 by Kuznetsov's lawyer Alexei Pershin in an interview with TASS.

According to him, the arrest was extended until the beginning of December this year. The lawyer clarified that the arrest was also extended to Lev Martirosyan, an entrepreneur from Krasnodar, who, according to the investigation, had bribed Kuznetsov.

Pershin added that at the moment the investigation has been submitted to the prosecutor's office for approval.

In May 2024, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a criminal case against Kuznetsov for accepting a particularly large bribe (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the investigation, as head of the 8th Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, he received a bribe in the form of a land plot and an apartment building from "representatives of commercial structures for committing certain actions in their favor." Shortly after, he was arrested.

On October 16 of the same year, the court seized 29 accounts in three Russian banks and six of Kuznetsov's real estate properties. They also seized a plot of land in Krasnogorsk, the village of Obushkovo in the Istra district of the Moscow region, a house in the latter, land in Krasnodar and a three-story house with an area of more than 1.1 thousand square meters located on it, as well as an apartment on Yartsevskaya Street in Moscow.
