US President Donald Trump's special Envoy Steven Witkoff visited the Gaza Strip on October 11 to check on Israel's compliance with the first phase of the peace treaty.

It is specified that Admiral of the US Navy Brad Cooper and businessman and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner visited Gaza with him.

"Admiral Cooper, Jared Kushner and I traveled to Gaza today to ensure Israel's compliance with the first phase of the agreement," Witkoff wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The Special Envoy added that they were provided with comprehensive briefings on security issues, the delivery of humanitarian aid and efforts for a peaceful settlement. He also expressed the opinion that while maintaining the commitment of the parties, a peaceful settlement will remain achievable.

On October 9, Israel and Hamas signed an agreement on a cease-fire and the release of hostages after indirect talks in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. According to the agreement, the fighting will cease, Israel will partially withdraw from Gaza, and Hamas will release all remaining hostages in exchange for prisoners held in Israel. The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10 at 12:00 Moscow time.
