- The AFD called Tusk's words about "Sevpotoks" an encroachment on the energy sovereignty of Germany
Tino Cavalla, co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, suspected Poland's involvement in the bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipelines and accused Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk of encroaching on Germany's energy sovereignty. He announced this on October 11 against the background of the refusal to extradite the suspect from Poland to Germany.
"The Polish Prime Minister refuses to extradite the suspect in organizing the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream. <...> This makes me wonder: could Poland have been involved in the attack? We demand clarification!" he wrote in X (ex. Twitter).
Tusk's statement that the problem "is not the bombing, but the construction of the pipeline," according to the AFD co-chairman, "is an encroachment on Germany's energy sovereignty."
On October 1, a Polish court arrested Ukrainian diver Vladimir Zhuravlev, who is wanted by Germany, who is suspected of involvement in the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipeline. According to the judges' decision, the defendant must be held in custody until the issue of his transfer to Germany is resolved.
On September 30, the German Prosecutor General's Office announced the detention in Poland of a Ukrainian citizen who took part in the explosion at Nord Streams. It was stated that the trained diver was part of a group of individuals who placed explosive devices on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines near Bornholm Island in September 2022. The person involved was detained by the police in Pruszków.
