The court arrested the head of the Luga district of the Leningrad region for two months

Yuri Namliev, the head of the Luga district, who was detained in the Leningrad Region on suspicion of receiving a particularly large bribe, was arrested until December 9. This was announced on October 11 by the joint press service of the city courts.

"The Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg has issued a decision on the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of Yuri Namliev," the Telegram channel said.

A criminal case has been opened under paragraph "b" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a large-scale bribe").

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region detained an official earlier on October 11. The investigation found that in August 2024, a bribe of 1 million rubles was given to the person involved through an intermediary so that he could help conclude municipal contracts with the district administration. A criminal case has been opened against the intermediary, paragraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Mediation in large-scale bribery"). Searches are being conducted.
