More than 500,000 people returned to Gaza after the ceasefire agreement
More than 500,000 people who had previously left Gaza City returned after a ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement. This was reported on October 11 by The Times of Israel, citing the Gaza Civil Defense Agency.
"Since yesterday, more than half a million people have returned to Gaza," said GOH spokesman Mahmoud Bassal.
The newspaper also attached a photo showing Palestinians returning to the city in cars, many of them waving Palestinian and Egyptian flags.
On October 9, Israel and Hamas signed an agreement on a cease-fire and the release of hostages after indirect talks in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. According to the agreement, the fighting will cease, Israel will partially withdraw from Gaza, and Hamas will release all remaining hostages in exchange for prisoners held in Israel. The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10 at 12:00 Moscow time.
