The head of the administration of the Luga municipal district of the Leningrad region was detained on suspicion of accepting a large-scale bribe. This was announced on October 11 by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.
The investigation found that in August 2024, the suspect received a bribe of 1 million rubles through an intermediary for patronage when concluding municipal contracts with the district administration.
A criminal case has been opened under paragraph "b" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a large-scale bribe"). The defendant will be charged in the near future. The investigation is requesting his detention. A criminal case has been opened against the intermediary under clause "b" of Part 3 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Mediation in large-scale bribery").
As part of the investigation, searches were conducted in the administration of the Luga district, as well as at the places of residence of the defendants. The causes and other episodes of the crime are being established.
Prior to that, on October 8, it was reported that Alexey Nechaev, the Minister of Road Management of the Chelyabinsk region, who was detained in connection with embezzlement and a number of other crimes and arrested, and later was under house arrest, pleaded guilty. The press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Chelyabinsk Region reported on Nechaev's detention on February 19. He became the head of the regional ministry in 2019.
