The St. Sophia Cathedral in Vologda hosted the All-Russian campaign "Victory Relay", in which Metropolitan Savva of Vologda and Kirillov consecrated banners with the face of the Savior Not Made with Hands, which will be handed over to the soldiers of the Special Military Operation (SVO). This was announced on October 11 by the Governor of the Vologda region, Georgy Filimonov.

"We believe that these banners will become a symbol of strength, Victory and faith in our soldiers, they will be a support and a reminder that we pray and remember every hero," he said on his Telegram channel.

It is specified that the "Victory Relay" campaign is being held as part of the final of the Third All-Russian contest "My Media Selections". The service was attended by Maxim Alexandrovich Leskov, chairman of the jury of the competition, Executive Director of the Russian Foundation for Free Elections, as well as foundation experts, representatives of regional election commissions.

The governor thanked Metropolitan Savva for holding the prayer service and noted the importance of forming a joint spiritual force for the well-being of the people and Vologda residents as part of a multi-religious and multinational Russia.

On October 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that on his birthday, the commanders of the troops in the Peter and Paul Cathedral presented him with icons of soldiers with bullet dents.
