The former head of the French Defense Ministry called on Macron to resign
The political crisis in France can be resolved only if President Emmanuel Macron resigns, but not by reappointing the prime minister or dissolving the government. This was announced on October 11 by former French Defense Minister Herve Morin on the Europe 1 TV channel.
"It's perfectly clear that the dissolution of parliament probably won't solve anything. And therefore, the only real solution, if the President of the Republic were thinking about the national interests and the French, would be to announce that he would resign in a few months," Morin said.
According to him, this development will allow the French parties to prepare for the elections in the spring of 2026. Morin also added that France is currently unable to carry out normal reforms and develop, and is going through very difficult times in general.
The re-election of French Prime Minister Sebastian Lecorny, who resigned of his own accord, became known on October 10. The Prime Minister, who began his first term in office with the lowest rating, explained his decision to leave by saying that he lacked the conditions for the work of the government.
On the same day, Philippe de Velle, a political scientist, lawyer, member of the Paris Bar Association, and head of the doctoral program at Paris Descartes University, told Izvestia that the reappointment of Lecorny to his former position was a hypocritical move by the president of the country to prevent the dissolution of parliament. On the same day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Lecorny's re-election as prime minister an "act of desperation."
