A baby red book monkey named Diana was born in the Moscow Zoo.
A baby monkey named Diana, listed in the Red Book, was born in the Moscow Zoo. This was announced on October 11 by the zoo's press service.
"The baby was born on September 1, and for the first few days, mom Fiona constantly carried him on herself, not letting go for a minute. After 2 weeks, the cub began to slowly slide off its mother and explore the world around it," said Svetlana Akulova, director of the Moscow Zoo.
It is noted that this animal species lives in the jungles of West Africa and is listed as vulnerable in the Red Book. In addition, the species got its name in honor of the Roman goddess of hunting Diana. The zoo added that the cub can now be seen in the Primates department.
"The staff does not take the cub in their arms, so as not to expose him to unnecessary stress," they wrote on the zoo's Telegram channel.
Earlier, on June 11, it was reported that Manul Timofey from the Moscow Zoo turned five years old. In honor of the holiday, the zoo staff packed a treat for manul in a craft bag. After a successful hunt for prey, Timofey retired with treats in his cabin.
