Heavy rains in Mexico have killed at least 27 people and left several others missing. This was reported on October 10 by the Reuters news agency.

"Heavy rains triggered several landslides, led to power outages in some municipalities and caused rivers to overflow their banks," the article says.

At least 1,000 homes and hundreds of schools were damaged in Hidalgo State. The Mexican Ministry of Defense said it had sent more than 5,400 people to help evacuate people and clean up affected areas.

"We are working to support the population, open roads and restore electricity," Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

She shared photos of rescuers carrying supplies as they waded knee-deep through flooded streets.
