More than 4,000 federal employees from seven ministries, including the Treasury Department and the U.S. Department of Health, received redundancy notices amid the government shutdown. This was reported on October 11 by ABC TV channel.

"More than four thousand employees in seven federal agencies have received layoff notices... The largest number of notifications were sent to the Ministries of Finance, Health and Education," the article says, referring to a lawsuit filed by the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and the American Federation of Labor — the Congress of Industrial Unions (AFL-CIO).

It is known that the dismissals also affected the ministries of trade, energy, internal security and housing.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump announced the beginning of massive cuts in the US government. He clarified that the number of employees who will be subject to cuts will be announced within a few days.

The shutdown was introduced in the United States on October 1 due to the fact that the draft budget was not agreed upon by the senators. The Washington Post (WP) reported on October 10 that the administration of the American president has already begun to dismiss federal employees representing trade, finance, health and social services, education and homeland security.
