Russia is ready to improve relations with Washington and has already taken two steps towards the United States. This was announced on October 10 by the Chinese portal Sohu.

The article emphasizes that against the background of the rapprochement between Moscow and Beijing, the West expressed concerns about the formation of an "authoritarian alliance," suggesting that Russia could persuade China to participate in the conflict on its side.

However, as the authors note, China is not going to form a military alliance with Russia against the United States. China acts on the principles of non-alignment and avoids confrontation, and it has no obligations to Russia similar to the fifth article of the NATO Charter. Moscow, for its part, is committed to flexibility and diplomacy.

"We can say that China and Russia cannot form an alliance — this is a long—standing consensus between the two countries," the journalists noted.

According to them, Moscow is making steps towards the United States. The first of them is a statement that positive relations between the two countries correspond to Russia's national interests. The second is the continued supply of uranium to the United States. This, according to the authors of the article, demonstrates the willingness of Russian President Vladimir Putin to establish relations with his American counterpart Donald Trump.

"In this context, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin emphasized the two points mentioned above, making concessions and sending a positive signal about peacemaking. To some extent, this can be seen as a way to calm Trump's discontent and find consensus in relations between the countries," the authors concluded.

On October 1, Putin noted that relations between Russia and China are at an unprecedented high level. He expressed confidence that the further implementation of the agreements reached between the two countries will strengthen bilateral partnership and strategic cooperation, as well as create conditions for the implementation of large-scale joint projects.

Li Yihong, Charge d'affaires of the Permanent Mission of China to the World Trade Organization (WTO), said on September 24 that the US efforts to force China to abandon the purchase of energy resources from Russia would not affect contracts between Moscow and Beijing.
