Kim Jong-un called for strengthening ties with Russia
During a meeting with the Chairman of the Russian Security Council, North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un stressed the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries. This was reported on October 11 by the Central Telegraphic Agency of Korea (KCNA).
In addition, a joint statement was adopted on the development of relations between the Workers' Party of Korea and the United Russia Party. The statement was signed by Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK Lee Hee-yong from the Korean side and Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Vladimir Yakushev from the Russian side.
"As part of the implementation of the agreements reached, both sides intend to strengthen ties both at the level of central party bodies, within regional organizations, and in live communication between activists of grassroots party cells," the agency reports.
According to KCNA, the parties expressed a common opinion on their mutual focus on jointly opposing attempts to revise historical events, combating forces that violate peace and stability in Northeast Asia, including on the Korean Peninsula, the revival of fascist and Nazi ideologies, and the practices of neo-colonialism persistently promoted by the West.
On October 8, Medvedev arrived in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea for the 80th anniversary of the country's Workers' Party. In his Telegram channel, he commented on the visit with the words: "Time is ticking. Friends together. The enemies are straining."
