Daniil Medvedev won the quarter finals in Shanghai
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev reached the quarter finals of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Masters tournament in Shanghai on October 8, beating Australian Alex de Minaur.
The match, which lasted 1 hour and 53 minutes, ended with a score of 6:4 in the first set and 6:4 in the second in favor of the Russian.
During the first set, with the score 4-2 in favor of Medvedev, a cheerleader shouted, which caused the match to be interrupted. It was clarified that referee Reno Lichtenstein asked the Russian tennis player to pause while the guards escorted the woman out. A few minutes later, the match continued.
Also, at the end of the second set, Medvedev took a medical timeout: the doctor kneaded the muscles in his arms and legs. In the semifinals, which will be held on October 11, Medvedev will play with French tennis player Arthur Rinderknech.
Prior to that, on October 4, Medvedev reached the third round of the Shanghai Masters tournament on October 4, defeating Czech athlete Dalibor Svrchina. The match ended with the score 6:1, 6:1.
