The Chelyabinsk court has arrested the director of the city's Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after Yuri Gagarin, who was previously detained on charges of fraud with the supply of attractions and abuse of office. This was announced on October 10 by the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) in the Chelyabinsk region.

"In relation to the director of the municipal autonomous cultural management institution of the Chelyabinsk city Administration, accused of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Abuse of official authority), the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention until December 9, 2025," the Telegram channel said.

On October 9, the press service of the Chelyabinsk FSB department reported that the director of the Yuri Gagarin Central Park of Culture and Recreation had been detained in Chelyabinsk on charges of abuse of office. According to investigators, from the beginning of 2023 to the middle of 2024, the defendant entered into an agreement with a commercial company for the supply of rides worth more than 86 million rubles at an inflated cost. He paid for the supply at the expense of subsidies allocated by the Department of Culture of the Chelyabinsk city administration for the improvement of the park. At the same time, the director knew that the purchased rides would be dismantled.
