- China's permanent representative to the UN called on Washington to stop attacks on ships near Venezuela
The United States should immediately stop attacking ships in the waters of Venezuela in order to avoid escalation with the republic. This was announced on October 10 by Fu Tsung, Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to the United Nations.
"We (China. We call on the United States to immediately cease appropriate actions (strikes — Ed.) in order to avoid further escalation of the situation," he said, taking part in an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.
Fu Tsung asked Washington not to use pretexts to justify its actions undermining the safety of international navigation in the region, in particular, about its alleged fight against drug trafficking.
In addition, the Chinese Permanent Representative called on the international community to work together to encourage the United States to stop hostile actions and preserve peace in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia, commenting on the ongoing US operation against Venezuela, on the same day called on the White House not to make "irreparable mistakes" and stop starting a conflict with the republic.
On October 5, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Venezuelan counterpart Ivan Gil Pinto expressed deep concern about the actions of the US military, which are attacking ships in the Caribbean Sea.
