Zakharova commented on the statement of the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the Olympic truce.

On October 10, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in an interview with Izvestia, called Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tikhy a "complete layman" because of his statements about a truce between the Russian and Ukrainian sides during the 2026 Olympics.

Earlier, Tikhy said that Russia allegedly started conflicts during the Olympic Games. According to him, the Russian Federation "launched an invasion" of Georgia and Ukraine during the Olympic truce.

"A complete layman. As for 2008, in 2009, the EU International Commission concluded that "[ex-President of Georgia] Mikhail Saakashvili did not repel "Russian aggression," as he continues to claim to this day, but planned an offensive war," she said.
