Ukrainians who live in major cities of the country, especially in Kiev, should move to villages before the onset of winter, because the country can expect a total blackout. This was announced on October 10 by Verkhovna Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya.

"It's going to be a long winter, and there's going to be a blackout. <...> Stock up, cooperate. And the best thing is to consider a temporary move out of town this fall or winter," Bezuglaya wrote on her Telegram channel.

She noted that everyone should realize and adapt to the environment on their own. Since the life and comfort of every person are needed first by himself and his loved ones, she pointed out.

Prior to that, on August 31, Bezuglaya also urged Ukrainians to prepare for the approach of a harsh winter and the onset of a blackout. The ExPro Daily Gas publication reported on May 28 that the cost of natural gas in Ukraine reached record levels in two years and amounted to 23 thousand hryvnias ($553) per 1 cubic meter. It was clarified that this is the highest figure since February 2023.
