The Ministry of Education has simplified the Russian language test for children of three categories of migrants

The Ministry of Education has changed the form of testing for Russian language proficiency when enrolling in schools for children of three categories of migrants, they will take the exam only orally. This was announced on October 10 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The first category includes participants in the state program to facilitate the voluntary resettlement of compatriots living abroad to Russia. Also, only children from foreign families who "share Russian spiritual and moral traditional values and decided to move to Russia for this reason" will undergo oral testing.

The third category includes children from the families of foreign officials, employees of diplomatic departments and international organizations working in Russia. All of them, according to the new rules, will take the Russian language exam only orally, and will also be able to retake the test without having to wait three months. The order comes into effect on October 19, 2025.

On October 4, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation allowed migrant children to retake Russian language tests. As Alexander Bugaev, the first Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, noted, it is important to create conditions for language learning in order to successfully pass the test.

On October 6, Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Affairs, submitted to the House of Parliament a bill providing for exemption from the Russian language test for participants in the program for the resettlement of compatriots. The author of the initiative noted that the relevant amendments should optimize the field of education.
