On October 10, Ivan Rozanov, a leading specialist at the Laboratory of Psychohygeny and Psychoprophylaxis at the V.P. Serbsky National Research Medical Center of Psychiatry and Narcology of the Russian Ministry of Health, told Izvestia about "cosmic" methods that allow them to cope with stress.

"It's not a lone hero who survives in space, but a team. You should also have a "crew" — people with whom you can be honest, who you trust and who are not afraid to be around, even when you feel bad. They can be friends, family, colleagues, or even an online community. The main thing is not to isolate yourself. Even a short conversation can become an "oxygen mask" in a moment of panic," the expert said.

He also stressed the importance of observing a regime that allows you to maintain control over daily processes. It is necessary to go to bed and get up at the same time, eat regularly and set aside time for rest.

In stressful situations, Rozanov advises resorting to simple tactile methods, such as touching a familiar object.

"I always had a family photo and a small stone from my home yard in my pocket. These "mascots" resembled: I'm not alone, I have a home. You may also have something similar - the scent of perfume, a blanket, a gift from a loved one, a favorite mug. In a stressful situation, touch this object. It won't solve the problem, but it will bring back a sense of security," he said.

In addition, the expert recommended regular pauses to relieve tension. It helps to recharge and feel connected to the body.

"In space, every alarm is data for analysis.: What went wrong? What needs to be changed? It's the same in life: stress is not a sign of weakness, but a signal that the system is overloaded. Instead of "fighting" it, ask yourself: What do I need now? Support? Rest? Clarity? The answer to this question is your next maneuver," Rozanov stressed.

He concluded that even small moments of vivid impressions — a conversation with a neighbor, a walk without a phone, the smell of coffee — can significantly reduce stress levels and restore a sense of inner balance.

On October 3, BBC Science Focus magazine reported that loneliness, namely, time alone, can be a powerful tool for reducing stress and improving mental and emotional well—being. Research shows that being alone helps the body recover, relieves stress, and improves the quality of life.
