Forecaster predicted snow and rain in Moscow due to cyclone Barbara
Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo forecasting center, warned that Cyclone Barbara would bring snow and rain to Moscow from October 14 to October 16.
In conversation with aif.ru On Friday, October 10, he said that the most likely time for wet snow in the metropolitan region is from October 14 to October 16. During this period, Moscow will be at the head of a cyclone that will bring rains from the south. It is expected to cool down to +5...+10 degrees during the day and up to +1...+6 degrees at night. At such temperatures, there is a high probability that snow will be added to the overnight rains.
At the same time, the forecaster stressed that it is too early to talk about snow cover — precipitation, reaching the ground, will melt and will not form a stable layer.
Also on October 10, Alexander Ilyin in an interview with 360.ru He said that "the next batch of wet snow is just around the corner — it is expected at the junction of the second and third decades of October. This snow is going to be heavier." According to him, in some places the snow cover will even stay for a while.
Earlier in the day, forecaster Nikita Popovnin warned of a sharp cold snap in the metropolitan area. According to him, the air temperature will drop almost twice below the climatic norm. Daytime temperatures will stay at +5... +7 degrees, which is extremely atypical for mid-October, writes RT.
At the same time, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, predicted the beginning of a meteorological winter in Moscow in November. Tishkovets noted that the forecast for the capital for next winter will generally be "a little mild, not severe," however, according to him, there will be "periodic waves of heat and cold."
On October 9, Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather center, noted that the first snow in Moscow could be seen next week. According to him, "on Tuesday and Wednesday, when the daytime air temperature will be in the range of + 5...+7 degrees, the first snowflakes will appear among the raindrops in the Moscow region," the Moscow city News agency reports. He added that the period of calm, foggy, but dry and warm weather is coming to an end in the capital.
On September 30, Evgeny Tishkovets announced that a "pumpkin" October is expected in the central part of the country. According to him, the second month of autumn will be 2-3 degrees warmer than the long-term meteorological statistics. A slight precipitation deficit of 10-30% is also expected, the NSN notes.
