Angry buzzer: girls come up with offensive definitions for guys
New names that girls give to boys are gaining popularity in the Internet space. Tubes, masks, and familiar scoofs are being replaced by air, footboard, tire service, vasek, and other buzzwords. Izvestia looked into where such characteristics come from, whether new terms will take root, and how their evil irony may turn out for zoomersh.
Hype and trend
New names that girls give to boys are gaining popularity in the Internet space. Tubes, masks, and familiar scoofs are being replaced by air, footboard, tire service, vasek, and other buzzwords. Offensive trends are often set by bloggers or opinion leaders.
With the advent of the Internet, the model of information dissemination and influence has changed, says Sergey Volkov, a clinical psychologist, body therapist, sexologist, trauma therapist, psychosomatologist, and member of the Association of Sexology.
— To be more precise, this happened with the advent of targeted advertising technologies, its main purpose is to show users of different ages content that is interesting for them. Platforms select it based on statistics of views, clicks, likes and comments," the expert explains.
Sergey Volkov believes that bloggers, with whose light hand sarcastic definitions appear, set themselves the task of raising a wave of HYPE in order to be at the top of promotion algorithms at any cost.
— From the point of view of psychology, people have two big points of attention: pleasure and danger. Pleasure includes any form of anger, from annoyance to violent revenge; any achievement, whether it's running in the park, a new T—shirt, or a hard—earned promotion. Joy, sexuality, and humor are also fun. Danger includes physical discomfort, from hunger to disgust; fear (from fear of monsters and fear of the future), shame, the need to be normal, to know trends, and fear of judgment," the clinical psychologist continues.
The sexologist believes that active Internet users, coming up with sharp words about men, play on the emotions and previous experiences of women, describing triggers. Unconsciously, they associate these negative assessments with some physical phenomenon, such as gait or demeanor. The illusion of reality is created, since many girls had to communicate with men who can be attributed to such features. As a result, erroneous conclusions are drawn about the veracity of such statements.
— The task of the inventors of many such terms is to raise a wave of interest, and then quickly sell courses, training, marathons or advertising. There is no sense, validity, or even observations of reality in their statements," the clinical psychologist believes.
Who are the Vaski?
With the light hand of one blogger girl, vaski appeared - clumsy, unkempt men who leave negative comments on social networks. They are even blamed for the ugly, from the point of view of the author of "vaskologiya", gait. According to the clinical psychologist, there is no such character as Vasek either in previous generations or now, because this is exactly the character.
— This is a description of the caricature image of gopnik, which appeared along with TV series and sketch comedies in the mid-noughties and early fifties. The word "Vasek" comes from an old trend to associate some names with stupidity or shortsightedness, for example, "oh, you, Vasya" or "well, you and Alyosha." All this has nothing to do with reality, but it creates the illusion that such people exist," explains Sergey Volkov.
A negative attitude towards the external features of other people and attempts to reward them with certain definitions is the private opinion of a certain circle of users, the clinical psychologist emphasizes. When a person without critical thinking experiences some emotion towards others, he believes that his emotions reflect reality. This private opinion may differ due to the fact that it is now possible to popularize it using the Internet.
— Bloggers, making fun of others, exploit people's inability to critically treat information, which is often becoming the absolute norm nowadays. They cite opinions, such as those of their loved ones, rather than research and research, as the basis for their "theories," Volkov complains. You might as well ask any neighbor at the entrance and get an equally "valuable" theory about the tenants. But that will only be her opinion.
The clinical psychologist draws attention to the fact that many people have long since stopped paying attention to the scientific basis of various statements, do not ask themselves whether they are logical and whether they correspond to reality.
— Thus, various unsupported statements are put on the same level as statements that are based on a serious personality typology related to the branches of clinical psychology, neurology, psychophysiology, psychiatry and neuropsychology. And if a blogger is good at advertising, he easily "overshadows" science," says Volkov ironically.
Kinder and tire service
The slang word "kinder" in the Zumerian language means a guy with a surprise. However, it is quite difficult to fit a certain group of representatives of the stronger sex under this definition. According to the clinical psychologist, this image does not depend on the man, but on the woman who evaluates him, since everyone has their own view of surprises.
— A surprise is a sudden event that a person considers important to themselves. Such a surprise for a lady may be, for example, that a man is married, or that he is ill, or that he likes iced coffee, says a clinical psychologist. — That is, this characteristic does not depend on the man, but on the woman. For one, it may be a surprise that he is unemployed, but for the other, it doesn't matter. From the point of view of psychology, it is unclear how to stretch this concept onto a personality, turning it into a specific characteristic.
According to Sergey Volkov, all the types of recent times are chaotic and collected from different fears of the female audience in front of men. A clinical psychologist is skeptical about another definition: tire service. This man allegedly loves his car more than a woman.
— Love is a philosophical meta-definition that includes everything at once. In psychology, the concept of love is not used — it cannot be calculated or measured. What is the measure of love for a car? In the hours spent in the garage? Then it's just a man who spends a lot of time tinkering with the car, but it's still unclear how much he loves the car and his woman, says the clinical psychologist.
Sergey Volkov considers the definition of "tire service" to be a simple description of a situation that causes women to fear detachment and abandonment, but at the same time does not indicate anything special. The man is an airhead, that is, a babbler, according to the expert, the only "type" whose name denotes a certain personality quality, but does not describe her.
"Those who use this term are clearly hinting that they may be lied to in a relationship. And this hint is enough to attract the attention of women to their content, who are afraid that they will be deceived," the expert believes.
According to Vladislav Obushinsky, a representative of the Pressindex Analytical Agency, the concept of "air" was not invented by girls offended by men. They just picked up the term. Initially, this word was used to refer to information gypsies, unscrupulous business coaches, as well as unreliable business partners.
— They make empty promises — they "blow the air" — and they charge fabulous money for it. These are people who are not responsible for their words. And while scammers on the Internet are selling their useless advice for millions, the concept of "air" will be at the top," comments Vladislav Obushinsky.
Where daffodils grow
Most of the criticism from a clinical psychologist falls on the narcissist, or redflag — some representatives of the youth environment now call them footsteps. Perhaps this characteristic has its own sacred meaning.
— First of all, narcissist is a colloquial name for people with narcissistic trauma who require attention, recognition and acceptance. They should not be confused with narcissism, as a part of the personality of each of us, when we are satisfied with ourselves, our condition, our body and our life," says Volkov.
The clinical psychologist emphasizes that these concepts borrowed from psychological literature have turned into a kind of non-existent image through the influence of the Internet and bad psychologists. This "term" now refers to any person who dares to demand respect for himself.
— According to those who throw around the definition of "narcissist", only women, as the main audience, have the right to demand respect, — says Volkov. — Well, if a man talks about respect and attention to his person, then he is a narcissist, you can't even talk to him: you have to leave and punish him with oblivion. This is an emotional game, not an analysis of facts or circumstances.
The clinical psychologist sees the reason for renaming an existing concept into something new in the fact that it is more difficult to sell someone else's trend than a unique one. That's why the "good old" narcissists are called running boards, in a new way.
Internationally used term "deadside" ("dead inside", depressed person) now it is replaced by the organizer. Perhaps this refers to the painful desire for self-organization and introspection of a person who sees everything in a gloomy light.
— At all times, with the change of generations, the jargon has also changed. But now it is important to pay attention not to the change of names, but to the substitution of reality for the fantasies of unknown authors. In the age of information, it so happened that the truth is not the real facts, but someone's subjective opinion, which people believed. It is very difficult to find a line between this opinion and an objective fact," says Sergey Volkov.
From the point of view of a clinical psychologist, in order not to fall into such a trap, it is important to develop critical thinking, and it is impossible without encouraging mental activity.
— Intellectual games like chess and checkers need to be popularized, and high—level scientific and educational TV shows are important. It all happened in the Soviet era and worked great," says the clinical psychologist.
Without educated people who can manage information, the amount of knowledge is meaningless, the expert believes.
Why evil girls won't get married
There are different men in nature, with their own character and views on life, says professional matchmaker Anna Osipova. They are different, so girls who endlessly analyze types run the risk of becoming mired in malicious irony and being left without romantic relationships.
— For two months in a row, only male clients come to me - this is a precedent that has not been seen for, probably, 15 years. They're all decent, cool, and just wonderful. And they hope to choose kind and adequate girls, and not those who are engaged in inventing more and more new names for men, sorting out their components," says Anna Osipova.
The matchmaker recommends that women of the fair sex go out into society more often in order to understand that the types they have invented exist only theoretically — in their imagination.
— Girls who view men through the prism of cliches will wait for the perfect chosen ones until they turn into spinsters. I advise girls to learn how to cook, for example, instead of "studying" Internet theories. Because now the trend of family values is returning, and men are choosing the appropriate women," says Anna Osipova.
According to the matchmaker, femininity and kindness have been in demand again lately, and the trend towards artificiality, tuning and blogging is becoming a thing of the past.
— As a relationship specialist, I warned about this a few years ago, and not because I'm the smartest: it's just the reality. And let the couch critics continue to have fun. My reinforced concrete position is that girls who take men apart into their component parts don't get anywhere because they are evil, and representatives of the stronger sex value kindness in addition to beauty," explains the matchmaker.
Anna Osipova repeats the folk wisdom that each jar has its own lid.
— Both "Vasek" and "Vanek" are simple guys, maybe with dirt under their nails, but they will find their destiny. Maybe this man is an electrician "from God", such that he will arrange the whole house, make everything work and sparkle. And a woman who appreciates him will say "thank you" to her husband and will be happy to take care of him. And these bloggers will continue to sit, worsening the demographic situation, but good will still defeat evil," the matchmaker sums up.
Narcissus or redflag
Meanwhile, according to a study by the analytical agency Pressindex, the new designations of guys did not affect the dynamics of the use of the slang generation of zoomers on the Internet, if we analyze the period from October 2023 to October 2025. Users prefer to speak the old-fashioned way.
"It is worth noting that terms related to psychology and self-esteem remain highly popular. The words "narcissist" and "self—importance" (self-importance) remain the most used throughout the study period, which indicates an increased attention of young people to issues of egocentrism and self-perception," the agency explained. At the same time, the word "narcissist" has become the absolute leader in the frequency of use in comments — it has been used more than 1.4 million times, which underlines its importance in online discourse.
The term "red flag" is not going to give way to a "bandwagon" or other definition at all. On the contrary, there is a rapid increase in the use of this word. "In two years, the number of posts with this word has grown by 282.83%, and in comments by a record 869.25%. Such explosive growth suggests that the concept of "red flags" — warning signals in relationships or behavior — has become an integral part of the language of modern youth," the study emphasizes.
However, according to analysts, not all words show steady growth. For example, the terms "normis" and "dedinside", although still in use, have shown a significant decrease in activity over the past year — a drop of 38.24% and 40.44%, respectively, in the "all messages" category. This may indicate the gradual obsolescence of some of the slang or a shift in the interests of the audience. The word "stroke" is also losing popularity, falling by 45.93% in messages and by 39.63% in comments.
The Izvestia agency explained: the analysis shows that the buzzer slang remains dynamic and responsive to social trends. Words related to psychology, self-reflection, and interpersonal relationships come to the fore.
