The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation will train teachers in family studies at pedagogical universities

Family studies modules should be introduced in Russian pedagogical universities, where specialists will be trained to introduce the "My Family" course in all schools of the country. Alexander Bugaev, First Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, told about this on October 10 at the All-Russian Conference of Teachers and Organizers of Family Studies courses.

"The course ["My Family"], which is currently being tested, will certainly expand and reach every educational organization as much as possible. And, of course, specialists will be required. <...> The relevant modules will definitely appear in our pedagogical universities," TASS quoted him as saying.

The Deputy Minister noted that separate professional competitions could be organized for teachers of such a course, following the example of the Teacher of the Year format. So far, this issue needs to be worked out.

Experts note a noticeable increase in the interest of schoolchildren and a shortage of technical staff.

In April, Nina Ostanina, head of the State Duma Committee for Family Protection, told Izvestia that the new textbook on Family Studies for secondary schools had been highly appreciated by the expert community. Ostanina, who is one of the authors of the educational publication, noted that the course involves two separate manuals — for grades 5-7 and 8-9.

At the same time, it was reported that the textbook on family studies caused a public outcry due to the participation of an esotericist in its creation. Maria Maryasova, Chairman of the committee on work with influencers of the New People faction, said that the manual had been sent for revision.
