The next meeting of the Council of Heads of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held on October 9, 2026 in Turkmenistan. This was announced on October 10 by CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Dushanbe.
"Since the meeting of the Council of Heads of State is traditionally held in the state chairing the Commonwealth, it was decided to hold the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State on October 9, 2026 in Turkmenistan," he said.
In addition, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon noted that Turkmenistan will assume the chairmanship of the organization from January 2026.
