The doctor noted the importance of introducing new treatment methods for leg ischemia

It is necessary to apply innovative methods of treatment for leg ischemia. This was announced on October 10 during a press conference on "Innovations in modern surgery" at the Izvestia Medical Center by Bagrat Alekyan, Chief Specialist in X-ray endovascular diagnostics and treatment, Deputy Director General for Science at the Vishnevsky National Research Medical Center of Surgery of the Russian Ministry of Health, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"The problems of critical ischemia of the lower extremities, which lead to gangrene. You know, this is a social problem today. 59 thousand amputations are performed annually in the country in patients with diabetes and atherosclerosis of the arteries of the lower extremities. And here, of course, we have big problems today. We only perform 43,000 endovascular surgeries and 1015-20 open vascular surgeries with this number of amputations," the specialist said.

On October 9, Sechenov University announced that they had developed a method for diagnosing congenital aniridia, a rare genetic disease. For example, children undergo ultrasound examinations of the kidneys, brain and thyroid gland, as well as consultations with other specialists. This allows doctors to predict the course of the disease and the risks of complications.
