Over the past day, 296 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 39 people were killed and 338 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on October 10 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
20 bus accidents were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 20 road users needed medical attention. The reason for the eight incidents were traffic violations committed by bus drivers.
As a result of 91 accidents involving pedestrians, three people were killed, and 95 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 22 children, nine of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 36 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 55 outside their area of operation.
In Novosibirsk, in the evening, a 21-year-old driver driving a passenger carsharing car under the influence of alcohol and who did not have a driver's license lost control at a controlled intersection, hit a metal fence, then drove onto the sidewalk and ran over six pedestrians and a fast food pavilion. Six pedestrians and the driver were injured in the incident: five pedestrians, including a 13-year-old minor, were hospitalized, and the driver and another pedestrian were sent for outpatient treatment.
35 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 33 young road users were injured, including 22 pedestrians, nine passengers and one minor driver. Three children were killed in the accident.
For example, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, in the city of Sibai, a passenger car driver overook into the oncoming lane, where he collided with an overtaking crossover, after which he crashed into an oncoming truck. As a result of the accident, the driver and two passengers of the car, including a 13-year-old girl, were killed.
In the Krasnodar Territory, on 2 km of the Dzhubga — Sochi federal highway, a passenger car driver drove into the oncoming lane in the rain, where he collided with a truck. The driver and his three passengers, including a six-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy, were killed in the accident. At the same time, the girl was in the front passenger seat without a child restraint and was not fastened, and the boy was sitting in the back seat in his mother's arms.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that all motorists check the technical condition of their vehicle properly before any departure, paying special attention to the serviceability of the braking system, external lighting devices, the condition of the tires and their compliance with the season.
In addition, if there are child passengers in the car, they should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements, using child restraints, car seats and car seats in accordance with the height and weight of young road users.
